My math tutoring sessions are individualized, 1-hour sessions designed to strengthen your child's procedural fluency, deepen their conceptual understanding, and help them apply math concepts in real-world scenarios. I follow a structured approach using the concrete, pictorial, abstract sequence, where we first explore math concepts through hands-on activities, then represent them visually, and finally move to more abstract problem-solving methods. This method ensures that students build a strong foundation and develop the confidence to tackle math challenges independently.

Additionally, I bring my experience with the Multisensory Math method through coursework with Marilyn Zecher, CALT, integrating multisensory techniques to reinforce math skills. This approach enhances engagement and supports diverse learning styles, helping students grasp and retain complex mathematical concepts with greater ease.

My literacy tutoring sessions are individualized, 1-hour sessions incorporating a structured literacy approach, incorporating the Orton-Gillingham methodology and the research of Dr. David Kilpatrick, to provide a comprehensive and effective learning experience. As a certified dyslexia practitioner through the Children's Dyslexia Centers, accredited by IMSLEC and the IDA, I am equipped to support students in developing strong reading, writing, and spelling skills.

In my sessions, I focus on the 5 components of literacy instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Each lesson is carefully crafted to meet the individual needs of the student, ensuring they not only overcome challenges but build a strong foundation for lifelong literacy. For students who need an extra challenge, I incorporate enrichment activities, focusing on Latin and Greek roots, vocabulary development, and advanced strategies to build comprehension skills. My goal is to help every child become a confident and skilled reader and writer, equipped with the tools they need to succeed academically and beyond.

Together, with your deep knowledge of your child (because you are their first and most important teacher!) and my expertise in educational systems and a wide variety of best practices, we can support your child in achieving their goals and becoming an expert learner, ready to pursue their passions.

With a strong understanding of the special education system, I provide guidance in paperwork review and offer strategic advice to ensure you feel empowered to advocate effectively for your child. I offer general consulting services in any geographic location, but my special education consulting excludes the towns of Groton and Dunstable.
